Zoran Hochstätter is a film cinematographer and cameraman born in Maribor, Yugoslavia on February 5th, 1955. His first work in the speculative fiction genre was as the director of photography on the 1988 sci-fi/horror film Not of This Earth by director Jim Wynorski. This was also Hochstätter's first non-European film work. Zoran Hochstätter teamed up to work with Jim Wynorski again the following year when he swung the camera lens around for the 1989 comic book movie The Return of Swamp Thing. That same year, Hochstätter worked as DP on the comedy movie Beverly Hills Bodysnatchers, which contained fringe elements of science fiction in terms of reanimating the dead.

- Another sci-fi person of note who hails from Yugoslavia is actress Mira Furlan, who was born on September 7th, 1955. Mira is best known for playing the role of Ambassador Delenn on Babylon 5.
- Zoran Hochstätter was born exactly one year to the day before the theatrical release of Invasion of the Body Snatchers. He would go on to work his own body snatchers film in 1989, Beverly Hills Bodysnatchers, which went on to win absolutely no Academy Awards whatsoever.
