Zari Tomaz is a fictional superhero and time traveler featured on the CW Network television series Legends of Tomorrow. She is loosely based on the DC Comics character, Adrianna Tomaz, also known as Isis. Played by actress Tala Ashe, she first appeared in the season three episode, "Zari".
Biography[]
Zari Tomaz was born in the early 21st century in an alternate future timeline. As an adult in the year 2042, Zari and her brother, Behrad Tomaz, worked as computer hacktivists against the government law-enforcement entity known as A.R.G.U.S., who were rounding up metahumans and detaining them under harsh and often violent conditions.
Zari encountered a group of time travelers known as the Legends, who were pursuing an assassin named Kuasa, who had killed several A.R.G.U.S. agents, and was gunning for Zari. Zari convinced the Legends in assisting her in breaking her brother out of an A.R.G.U.S. prison, but this was actually a feint in order to get inside so she could obtain the Air totem - a mystical device that bequeaths its user with power over the element of air. Donning the totem, Zari took command of the elements and used them to fight Kuasa, and in so doing, saved the life of Ray Palmer. Afterward, Zari became a member of the group and a passenger aboard their time-ship, The Waverider. [2]
One of Zari's first time traveling adventures was to go back to Ivy Town in the year 1988 where a young Ray Palmer had befriended an alien child and secretly kept him in his child. This alien child, was actually the offspring of a Dominator, and the Legends had to reunite the child with its mother, before she caused any undue bloodshed in her efforts to reunite with her baby.
