Biography[]
Zankou was an ancient, elder demon that had been banished to imprisonment by the Source of All Evil because he was deemed to be too powerful. A group of demons, seeking to find an ally to fight up against the Avatars, freed Zankou, believing that he could protect them from their power. Upon being freed, Zankou noted that the Avatars were too powerful to go after, however, they did have a chance at destroying the Charmed Ones. He identified one of the group that summoned him as a shape-shifter and killed him, absorbing his power into himself. Now armed with the ability to alter his form, he infiltrated Halliwell Manor and took the guise of Phoebe Halliwell so that he could get close to the seer, Kyra. Zankou knew that Kyra was in the midst of bargaining sensitive information regarding demon-kind in exchange for being made human. Catching her at a vulnerable moment, he unleashed waves of energy upon her until she caught on fire and burned to ashes within seconds. [2]
