Zachary "Zak" Penn is an American film and television screenwriter, executive producer and creative consultant. He was born in 1968. Zak Penn is best known for creating the 2011-2012 Syfy Original Series, Alphas.
In 2003, Zak was the screenwriter of the superhero fantasy film X2: X-Men United. Sticking with the Marvel Comics stockade of characters, he also wrote 2005's Elektra and returned to the X-universe in 2006 to write X-Men: The Last Stand in 2006. In 2008, Zak refined his Marvel work to the Marvel Cinematic Universe with a healthy dose of gamma rays when he took on the Incredible Hulk in 2008. With this kind of pedigree, it is no surprise to anyone that Penn was brought on board to co-write the 2012 assemblage of colorful heroes The Avengers with director Joss Whedon.
On Alphas, Zak was the co-creator and executive producer on the first eleven episodes from season one of the series. He co-wrote the pilot episode and also wrote episode 1x04, "Rosetta". He wrote the story treatment for the season finale, "Original Sin". For season two, Zak was a creative consultant on three episodes of the show.
