Zachary Nail is a fictional scientist and a minor antagonist featured in comic books published by DC Comics. He first appeared in the second story from The Phantom Stranger, Volume 2 #14 in August, 1971 in a tale titled "Spectre of the Stalking Swamp!"
Biography[]
Zachary Nail was an elderly scientist who attempted to create a "New Eden" by abducting young, strong people to live and breed in an artificial domed city in a swamp. He was opposed by Doctor Thirteen [1] and later by Swamp Thing and his allies Abby Arcane, Matt Cable and Jefferson Bolt. During the latter encounter, Nail died and New Eden was destroyed. [2]
