Yavin IV, or Yavin 4 is a fictional moon featured in the Star Wars franchise. It was introduced in the original 1977 film Star Wars Episode IV: A New Hope and served as a key location in the second half of the movie and was the headquarters for the film's protagonists, the Alliance to Restore the Republic. The final battle featured in the film is referred to as the Battle of Yavin, or, the First Battle of Yavin. In the Expanded Universe, Yavin IV became the site of Luke Skywalker's Jedi Teaching Center.
Description[]
Yavin IV is the fourth moon in the Yavin star system and is an inhabitable moon with a lush, tropical topography and a breathable atmosphere and standard gravity. In the early days of the Galactic Civil War, Yavin IV was used as the base of operations for the Alliance to Restore the Republic, who headquartered themselves inside the ruins of the Great Massassi Temple.
