Yaphet Kotto is an American actor born in New York City, New York on November 15th, 1937. In the realms of science fiction he is best known for playing the role of J.T. Parker in the 1979 film Alien. Modern audiences know him best in the role of Lieutenant Al Giardello from the television series Homicide: Life on the Street.
