Xu Wenwu is a fictional crime boss and a central antagonist in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. He is presented as the leader of the crime cartel known as the Ten Rings, and is an analog of the Marvel Comics character known as the Mandarin. He was referenced as early as Iron Man 3 in 2013 in the form of Trevor Slattery, who publicly posited himself as if he were the Mandarin. The film short "Marvel One-Shot: All Hail the King" established that a true Mandarin did in fact exist. The 2021 film Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings officially introduced Xu Wenwu, though he did not refer to himself as the Mandarin. He was played by actor Tony Leung in the film.
