"The Dark Phoenix Saga" is a multi-part storyline that appeared in issues of the Marvel Comics comic book series Uncanny X-Men. The story was a sequel to the previous multi-part arc, "The Phoenix Saga". It was published in issues #129-137 with an epilogue in issue #138. The story was written by Chris Claremont with artwork by John Byrne and Terry Austin.

  • Arguably, "The Dark Phoenix Saga" is one of the most popular and fundamental storylines in not only X-Men history, but in comic history as well. It has been adapted in the 1992-1997 X-Men animated series, as well as the 2006 feature film X-Men: The Last Stand. In the cartoon series, "The Dark Phoenix Saga" comprised episodes 11-14 of season three.
  • Jean Grey first assumed the mantle of Dark Phoenix in Uncanny X-Men #134.
  • Uncanny X-Men #138 served as an epilogue to the story with Cyclops leaving the team.
