X-51 is the official designation of a fictional robot character known as Machine Man. He has also been referred to as Mister Machine and by the human alias Aaron Stack. He first appeared as part of the Space Odyssey continuity, which was based on the 1968 film 2001: A Space Odyssey by author Arthur C. Clarke and director Stanley Kubrick. He was introduced in issue #8 of the 2001: A Space Odyssey comic book series by Marvel Comics before branching out into his own Machine Man comic series in 1978.
