The Wrecker's crowbar is a fictional item featured in comic books published by Marvel Comics. It is associated with the character of Dirk Garthwaite, aka the Wrecker, who is a frequent foe of Thor. The crowbar first appeared in Thor, Volume 1 #148 in January, 1968.
Description[]
The Wrecker's crowbar was once a simple tool. It was made of cast iron and was approximately forty-eight inches in length. When the Asgardian queen of the Norns, Karnilla bestowed an enchantment upon Garthwaite, granting him superhuman abilities, the enchantment affected the crowbar as well, making it virtually indestructible. The crowbar was so durable that it could even withstand a blow from Thor's own enchanted weapon, the war hammer known as Mjolnir. Another point of commonality between Thor's hammer and the crowbar is that it would instantly return to the wielder's hand when thrown. This was made possible by way of a mental link between the Wrecker and his crowbar.
The crowbar had other mystical traits as well. The bond between the Wrecker and the crowbar enabled him to instantly change from his civilian attire into his costume by simply grasping it. He could also use it as a mystical tuning fork by which he could locate the other members of his team, the Wrecking Crew. In such cases where the crowbar actually could be destroyed, it possessed the ability to reconstitute itself.
