Synopsis[]
A 41-year-old real estate agent named Robert Gregson has a high-tech distintegrator ray in his possession that also fires electric bonds. He attacks Wolverine in the middle of New York City, and reduces him to a near skeletal state. Wolverine's accelerated healing puts him back together quickly, but Gregson just keeps firing, searing the flesh off of Wolverine's bones. Robert's young son Alex is present, and Wolverine struggles to keep the boy out of the danger zone. Police convene on the scene, but there's no stopping Gregson. Wolverine has little choice but to take the man out with his claws - in front of his own son. Wolverine tries to console Alex, but there is something off about the child. Alex picks up his father's weapon and says "Activate defense protocol 2", which sends a localized electrical charge that stuns Wolverine and the nearby police officers. He then runs off, commandeers a police car then smashes it into Wolverine. Logan slashes his way through the front end of the vehicle until it explodes. Alex takes off leaving Logan behind to consult with NYPD detective Chikeko Tomomatsu.

Notes & Trivia[]
- The character of Wolverine was created by writer Len Wein and artists John Romita, Sr. and Herb Trimpe. Most comic fans credit writer Chris Claremont with truly defining the character, however. He was introduced in a cameo stinger at the end of Incredible Hulk #180 in October, 1974, but made his first full appearance in the following issue, Incredible Hulk #181. In May, 1975, he became a member of the X-Men in Giant-Size X-Men #1. He has been associated with the X-Men in some capacity, either as a team member of an ally, ever since.
