William Dodson Broyles, Jr. is an American film screenwriter born in Harris County, Texas on October 8th, 1944. Along with Lawrence Konner and Mark Rosenthal, he co-wrote the script for the 2001 remake of Planet of the Apes, directed by Tim Burton. William's other film credits include Entrapment, Cast Away and The Polar Express. He was also an executive consultant on the 1988-1991 historical drama China Beach.
