When We Were Very Young is an English book of poems and children's stories. It was written by A.A. Milne with spot illustrations by E.H. Shepard. This book is best known for introducing the fictional teddy bear, Edward Bear, who later became better known as Winnie-the-Pooh, or "Pooh Bear". This volume also introduces the character of Christopher Robin, who was based on author A.A. Milne's son, Christopher Robin Milne, who was only 4-years-old at the time that this book was first published.
