Weird Woman is an American horror film of the supernatural thriller subgenre. Though not wholly a horror film in the strictest terms, it does contain elements of the supernatural, including the practices of witchcraft and voodoo. It was directed by Reginald Le Borg and written by Fritz Leiber, Jr. based on Lieber's 1943 novel Conjure Wife. It was adapted for the screen by W. Scott Darling with a screenplay written by Brenda Weisberg. It released theatrically in the United States on March 1st, 1944. The film stars Lon Chaney, Jr. as Professor Norman Reed, Anne Gwynne as Paula Clayton Reed and Evelyn Ankers as Illona Carr. Other actors in the movie include Ralph Morgan, Elisabeth Risdon, Lois Collier, Harry Hayden and Elizabeth Russell.
