"Horoscope Phenomenon or Witch Queen of Ancient Sumeria?" is the title to the first story featured in issue #1 of the Weird Mystery Tales ongoing comic book series published by DC Comics. The story was written and illustrated by Jack Kirby with inks and lettering by Mike Royer. The second story is called "The Brothers Beaumont!" and is written and drawn by Howard Purcell with inks by Jack Abel and lettering by Ben Oda. Both stories were edited by E. Nelson Bridwell with Marv Wolfman as assistant editor. This issue shipped with a July-August, 1972 cover date and carries a cover price of .20 cents per copy.

  • This is the first appearance of Destiny. As such, it may be construed as a retroactive first appearance of the celestial aspects known as The Endless, who will come to play a major role in the Sandman series many years later.
