Notes & Trivia[]
- The character of Spider-Man was created by writer Stan Lee and artist Steve Ditko. He first appeared in Amazing Fantasy #15 in August, 1962 in a story titled "Spider-Man!" The character has since gone on to become one of the most well-known and enduring super-heroes of all time, having appeared in numerous comic book titles, as well as feature films, animated projects and video games.
- The tagline to this issue is "Death by Punisher!"
- This issue carries the approval stamp of the Comics Code Authority.
- This issue is UPC barcode number 759606025275 12711.
- This issue shipped in both direct market and newsstand editions.
- This is the second installment in the six-part "Maximum Clonage" storyline.
- This issue is reprinted in the Spider-Man: The Complete Clone Saga Epic, Book 4 collection, published in 2010.
- The events of this issue continue from the Spider-Man: Maximum Clonage: Alpha one-shot, released this same month. The story continues in Amazing Spider-Man #404.
- This is the first and only appearance of Sid Paxton, who is a member of the New York City Police Department.
- At this point in time, Peter Parker believes that he is a clone and that Ben Reilly is the real Spider-Man. Peter came to believe this is in Spectacular Spider-Man #226. The truth is revealed in Spider-Man: The Osborn Journal #1.
- Although the Punisher is not known for cracking jokes, his opening statement pokes fun of two notable examples of pop culture. His "Jackal Season" comment may be reflective of a particular Loony Toons sketch, wherein Bugs Bunny, Daffy Duck, and Elmer Fudd argue as to whether it is Duck Season or Wabbit Season. The Punisher's line, "He's dead, Jim." is an oft-quoted trademark of the character of Leonard McCoy from the NBC television series Star Trek. The "Jim" that McCoy is referring to is Captain James T. Kirk.
- Comments are made about Mary Jane Watson's pregnancy. It was revealed that she was pregnant in Spectacular Spider-Man #220.
- Anna Watson makes reference to the death of May Parker. This allegedly took place in Amazing Spider-Man #400. It is later revealed that the May that died in that issue was actually an actress set up by Norman Osborn as revealed in Spider-Man #97.
