"War of the Programs (Part 1): In the Beginning..." is the title to the twenty-third issue of the second Weapon X comic book series published by Marvel Comics. The story was written by Frank Tieri with artwork & inks by Tom Mandrake. It was colored by Brad Anderson and lettered by Dave Sharpe. The story was edited by Mike Marts with Cory Sedlmeier and Stephanie Moore as assistant editors. This issue shipped with a July, 2004 cover date and carries a cover price of $2.99 per copy (US).
The initial flashback takes place during the "closing days of World War II". Reference is made to the Invaders, implying that the U.S. liberation of the camp must take place sometime in late March or early April, 1945.
