Description[]
The Water People, or the Water Tribe, are a terrestrial race of humanoids native to the Savage Land. They are so named because of their proximity to river basins in the region. They are a primitive hunter-gatherer tribe, sustaining themselves primarily on fish from the local waterways.
The Savage Land Mutates, who were cast-offs of the Swamp Men, had kidnapped several members of the Water Tribe where they were used for scientific experimentation by The Creator - who turned out to the old X-Men foe, Magneto. X-Men team members Angel, Beast, Cyclops, Iceman, and Marvel Girl teamed up with local jungle hero Ka-Zar and his pet saber-toothed tiger, Zabu, to free the Water People from The Creator.
