Warren County is a U.S. county located in the state of Illinois. It serves as the over-arching setting for the Halloween film series. The fictional town of Haddonfield is located in Warren County, as is Smith's Grove Sanitarium, which is located some 150 miles north of Haddonfield. Warren County is best known as the birth place of famed cinematic mass murderer Michael Myers, who has been punishing babysitters with his trusty kitchen knife since 1978.

- The Warren County Records Office was located in Warren County, Illinois. It contained record files and archives relating to government facilities as well as the Smith's Grove Sanitarium. It was staffed by a man named Michael Cyphers. In the late 1990s, a young man named Tommy Jarvis was haunted by his experiences as a survivor of masked mass murderer, Michael Myers. Obsessed with learning more about Michael's past, he discovered that Myers' former psychiatrist, Doctor Sam Loomis kept a series of journals relating to Myers. Following Loomis' death, the journals were kept at the records office. Tommy Doyle contacted Michael Cyphers and convinced him to let him inspect the Loomis' journals for himself. No sooner did Cyphers send them than Myers appeared behind him in his office. He stabbed Cyphers through the chest with a butcher knife, pinning his body to the door. (Halloween 1)
