War of the Worlds 2: The Next Wave is an American science fiction/adventure film and a sequel to the 2005 direct-to-video feature War of the Worlds directed by David Michael Latt. The film is loosely based on the original 1898 novel War of the Worlds by H.G. Wells. The sequel was directed by and stars C. Thomas Howell, who reprises his role of heroic alien invasion survivor George Herbert. He co-stars with former Kid 'n Play hip hop star Christopher "Kid" Reid as well as Kim Little, Jonathan Levit, Danna Brady and Fred Griffith. In this film, the survivors of the Martian invasion set up campgrounds in safe zones around the affected areas while the Walkers continue to hunt down human stragglers, zapping them with their death rays. George Herbert comes to the conclusion that the Walkers are not disintegrating their victims, but rather, transporting them aboard the walkers for passage back to Mars. Driven by the hope that his son may still be alive, George teams up with another survivor named Pete on a mad crusade to get him back.
