War of the Worlds is an American science fiction blockbuster feature film of the alien invasion subgenre. It is a remake of the classic 1953 film of the same name, which in turn, is an adaptation of the 1898 novel, War of the Worlds by author H.G. Wells. The film remake was directed by Steven Spielberg with a script written by Josh Friedman and David Koepp. It was produced by Paramount Pictures and Spielberg's company Amblin Entertainment, along with DreamWorks SKG. It premiered theatrically in the United States on June 29th, 2005.
