"Max" is the eighteenth episode of season two of the science fiction television series War of the Worlds and the forty-first episode of the series overall. The episode was directed by Jorge Montesi and written by Naomi Janzen. It first aired in syndication on Monday, April 30th, 1990. This episode features series regulars Jared Martin in the role of Harrison Blackwood, Lynda Mason Green as Suzanne McCullough and Adrian Paul as John Kincaid.

  • This is the first work in the science fiction genre for teleplay writer Naomi Janzen. It is her second work as a writer in episode television and her only episode of War of the Worlds. She too will go on to write scripts for episodes of Andromeda as well as the fantasy/adventure series Highlander starring Adrian Paul.
  • This is the nineteenth appearance of actor Denis Forest in the role of Malzor.
  • This is the eighteenth appearance of actress Catherine Disher in the role of Mana.
  • Actress Jill Hennessy is best known for her work as Doctor Jordan Cavanaugh on the hit TV crime drama series Crossing Jordan. This is Jill's second and final appearance on War of the Worlds. She also plays a character named Patty in "Goliath Is My Name".
  • Supervising producer Jon Anderson's surname is mis-spelled as "Andersen" in this episode.

  • During the flashback in the opening of the episode, John runs ahead of his brother Max. But a couple of seconds later, Max follows and is then hit by Mana and Malzor. Given the fact that they are standing there where John might have crossed just seconds ealier, wouldn't he have seen them, or vice-versa? [2]
