It is based on the popular The Walking Dead comic book series published by Image Comics and Skybound Entertainment. The book was written by Robert Kirkman and Jay Bonansinga. It was published by Thomas Dunne Books and first released in hardcover format on October 8th, 2013. This book was followed up by an immediate sequel, The Walking Dead: The Fall of the Governor Part 2, which was released on March 4th, 2014.
