Synopsis[]
Gamma surrenders herself to the Alexandrians. They take her in and put her in a prison cell, but nobody trusts her. She finally confesses to being the aunt to the Whisperer baby that had been rescued by the Alexandrians, and notes that she killed her own sister in defense of Alpha. Gabriel Stokes believes her. He asks her if she could point out the location of the Whisperer camps if he shows her a map. She tells him that she can.
Meanwhile, Beta, convinced that Gamma has betrayed the Whisperers, takes matters into his own hands. Accompanied by another Whisperer, he goes to an isolated Recreational vehicle in the middle of the woods and pulls up floor paneling, which reveals an access to an underground tunnel. Beta travels through the tunnel, which leads underneath the Alexandria Safe-Zone, and comes up underneath a cemetery.
Elsewhere, Daryl Dixon has become separated from the other tunnel mine-shaft survivors, and finds the location where a central group of Whisperers have been congregating. Using hit and run tactics, he begins taking them out one-by-one, but eventually, he is discovered. Alpha leads the charge, and Daryl is overwhelmed. Alpha and he battle one-on-one, and Daryl suffers a serious slash to the face, and is also stabbed in the leg. However, he does manage to deal out a serious injury to Alpha's upper body.
Back in Alexandria, Laura receives a message from Echo Post about an incoming herd. Gabriel Stokes divides up Alexandria's forces into scouting teams, leaving a skeleton crew behind to defend Alexandria.
Later that evening, Beta emerges from the cemetery tunnel and begins systematically killing various Alexandrians. He deliberately avoids head injuries so that they will turn, and now there are walkers inside the community. He goes to the jail cell containing Gamma and beckons her to return with him. Gamma refuses, and tells him that Alpha has lied to him. Laura appears and threatens Beta with an axe. Beta fights back though and manages to get away. Judith Grimes appears and helps Gamma get out of the cell and brings her to a safe location.
Beta returns to the jail cell and fights Laura. The two throw each other about, but Beta towers over her, and beats her to death by repeatedly slamming her against the bars of the cell and the floor.
Beta tracks Gamma down, but Judith shoots Beta through the door. Unfortunately for them, Beta is wearing a bullet-proof vest. Gamma surrenders to him and agrees to return to the Whisperer camp.
On the road, Beta and Gamma are ambushed by Gabriel and the other members of the scouting party. Beta manages to dive into the woods and gets away, but Gamma remains, pleading with Gabriel, and claiming that she did not betray them.
Elsewhere, the injured Daryl and Alpha both manage to crawl to an abandoned gas station. Alpha bangs on a pipe to alert nearby walkers. The undead enter and Daryl has to pull the knife from his leg in order to defend himself. Lydia arrives and kneels before her mother. Alpha is not sure if she is hallucinating or not, but beckons Lydia to kill her so she can take her place as the new Alpha. Tearfully, Lydia refuses. Instead, she tends to Daryl's injuries and takes him out of the gas station, and brings him to a safer location out in the woods.
When Alpha awakens, she finds a knife stuck in a work bench with the words "Your way is not the only way". Alpha is now emboldened. Returning to the Whisperer camp, she feels a renewed sense of strength and righteousness and declares war against the Alexandrians.
