Synopsis[]
In the woods, Aaron, Lydia and Elijah reunite with Lucas and Jules, who they have not seen in quite some time. Aaron states that they are on their way to Oceanside, but Lucas tells them that Oceanside has fallen to the Commonwealth.
At Outpost 22, the prisoners continue their retinue of forced labor. Negan, Kelly, and Ezekiel try to map out troop placements. Negan tries to bargain with Trooper 197 to relieve pressure off Annie, but only receives a rifle butt to the stomach for his efforts.
Back at the Commonwealth, the trial of Eugene Porter is underway. Pamela Milton takes the stand and pleads that the recording of Sebastian Milton that became public was faked and that it was no her son's voice. During recess, Yumiko tries to get Mercer to testify on Eugene's behalf, but he refuses.
Daryl and Connie meanwhile make it back to Alexandria by way of sewer tunnels. They have to cut through several walkers, but make it to the underside of Outpost 22 and exit through a manhole.
At Outpost 22, Negan makes a deal with the warden and is willing to give up his own life. The warden alters the deal however and intends on publicly executing not only Negan, but his pregnant wife as well. Ezekiel, Nabila, Magna and several others, stand in opposition to the execution. Trooper 197's conscious will not allow him to gun down defenseless civilians, so he turns his weapon against one of his own troops. Daryl emerges and sneaks up behind the warden, stabbing him in the back.
Carol, Maggie, Gabriel and Rosita find the house where the children are being held captive. They find Hershel, but there is no sign of Coco. Rosita storms outside to where the warden is on the ground, bleeding. She commands him to tell her where her daughter is, but he refuses to comply. She grabs the trooper that 197 shot, who is now undead, and presses him onto the warden where it commences to chew on his face.
Back at the Commonwealth, the jury finds Eugene Porter guilty of first degree murder and he is sentenced to hang. As soldiers march him out of his cell, Mercer steps out and stands before him. He says, "It's time to fuck shit up".

Allusions[]
- Reference is made to the Oceanside community in this episode. In "Acts of God", Deputy Governor Lance Hornsby led troopers to take control of the major communities including Alexandria and Hilltop. He flipped a coin to decide what was to become of Oceanside. This episode reveals that Oceanside suffered the same occupation as the other communities.

- Indirect references are made to Glenn Rhee in this episode, who is the deceased husband and Maggie Rhee and the father of Hershel Rhee. Glenn was brutally murdered by Negan back in the season seven premiere, "The Day Will Come When You Won't Be".
- Lydia and the others are able to move undetected through the herd by smearing blood and viscera from other walkers across their clothes. By doing so, they are indistinguishable to other zombies. This strategy hearkens all the way back to the season one episode, "Guts" when Rick Grimes and Glenn Rhee used the same tactic to move through an Atlanta herd.
