"A Certain Doom" is the sixteenth episode of season ten of the zombie survival horror television series The Walking Dead, and the 147th episode of the series overall. It was directed by Greg Nicotero with a teleplay written by Corey Reed based on a story treatment by Reed, Jim Barnes, and Eli Jorné. It first aired on AMC on Sunday, October 4th, 2020 at 9:00 pm.

- The Walking Dead was created by writer Robert Kirkman and artists Tony Moore and Charlie Adlard. It is based on The Walking Dead comic book series published by Image Comics and Skybound Entertainment. It was developed for television by Frank Darabont.
- Actress Lauren Cohan is given a "Special Guest Star" credit in this episode.
- This episode was intended as the original season finale, though plans were announced to book-end it with a series of specials spotlighting individual characters. This episode brings to "The Whisperer War" storyline to a close.
- This episode was postponed from its original projected airdate due to the COVID-19 pandemic, which caused mitigating delays in post-production.
- This episode sees the return of Lauren Cohan in the role of Maggie Rhee. Cohen had departed from the series during the first half of the Whisperers storyline to work on Whiskey Tango, which was cancelled after a single season in 2019. She appeared last in "What Comes After".
Allusions[]
- Events from this episode have been partially adapted from Walking Dead #159 and Walking Dead #160 of the comic series.
- In the comics, Beta was killed by Paul Monroe and Aaron in Walking Dead #173. This is also the same issue that introduced the Commonwealth.
- The song that is played on the boom box as the survivors lead the herd away is "Burning Down the House" by the Talking Heads, which debuted on their 1983 album Speaking in Tongues.
- Reference is made to Michonne in this episode.
- The armed soldiers in white body armor represent a community known as The Commonwealth, who appeared in The Walking Dead comic book series as the final major storyline of the title.
- Alpha and Gamma appear in archival footage only. Alpha was killed by Negan in "Walk With Us". Mary was killed by Beta in that same episode.
- The tactic of smearing walker blood across one's body to mask their scent goes all the way back to the season one episode "Guts" when Rick Grimes and Glenn Rhee had to do this in order to navigate their way through Atlanta.
