Biography[]

This is one of those weirdo characters that don' make no damn sense. The narrative from Leatherface: The Texas Chainsaw Massacre III states that a W.E. Sawyer was one of the original surviving family members from the events of the first Texas Chainsaw Massacre. This guy was apparently captured, arrested, and given the gas chamber in 1981. Aside from attributing the "Leatherface" nickname to him, no other reference is made to this character in the film itself.

Then along comes Texas Chainsaw Massacre: The Next Generation. One of the family members is named W.E., presumably as a re-imagining of the character referenced in this previous film. This version of the character is alive and well however. Moreover, he is not a cannibal, nor a killer, nor even Leatherface. Some resource sites give this family the surname of Slaughter. W.E. is the annoying "sibling?" of Vilmer and Leather, and really gets on the nerves of Vilmer's lover, Darla. He has a penchant of quoting famous historical figures, perhaps as a means of convincing others that he is smarter than he appears.
