Colonel Virginia Lake is a fictional scientist featured in the 1970-1973 science fiction television series UFO. Played by actress Wanda Ventham, she appeared in nine episodes of the series and debuted in the series pilot "Identified". Lake was a scientist and an operative of SHADO, the Supreme Headquarters Alien Defence Organization. Virginia had a romantic interest in SHADO's first officer Colonel Alec Freeman, but ultimately assumed his position and became commander of their lunar station, Moonbase. Initially, she had a contentious relationship with SHADO's leader, Commander Ed Striker, but through the course of their time together, the two eventually became quite close.
