Viral is an American feature film that blends elements of science fiction, horror and the thriller genres, with an emphasis on the post-apocalyptic reality storytelling trope. It was directed by Henry Joost and Ariel Schulman with a screenplay written by Barbara Marshall and Christopher Landon. It was produced by Blumhouse Productions, Busted Shark Productions, Chapter One Films, and IM Global, and distributed through Dimension Films. It was released on video-on-demand and on streaming services in the United States on July 29th, 2016.
Plot[]
Following the outbreak of a virus that wipes out the majority of the human population, a young woman documents her family’s new life in quarantine and tries to protect her infected sister.
