Vincent "Vin" Sullivan was an American magazine/comic book editor and artist. He was born on June 5th, 1911. During the 1930s, Vin worked as an editor for National Allied Publications, which evenutally evolved into the present day DC Comics. One of his most notable and enduring legacies for DC was the acquisition of the caped superhero character Superman, whom Sullivan purchased from Ohio-based creators Jerry Siegel and Joe Shuster for $130 dollars.
Vin Sullivan is also known for drafting the cover illustration for Detective Comics #1, which featured the visage of infamous Sax Rhomer antagonist Fu Manchu. Detective Comics is also known for launching DC's second-most infamous superhero character, Batman, who deputed in issue #27 of the title.
Vin Sullivan retired from the comic book industry in 1958 after having worked at Columbia Comics. He passed away in Manhasset, New York on February 3rd, 1999 at the age of 87.
