A video tape is a device used for the recording and storage of visual data. Such recordings may be used for personal use, such as family vacations, professional use, like security camera feeds, or entertainment, like recording films and television shows. Video tapes were widely used in the late 1970s through the late 1990s. Their usage dwindled with the advent of DVD & Blu-ray technology, and the evolution of digital technology. By today's standards, video tapes and video tape cameras are seldom used.
Video tapes are rectangular plastic cassettes that utilize two spools that thread a length of ribbon between them. The ribbon contains the recorded data. When one views a video tape, they have only seven days to live, because after that, some creepy-ass bitch with gross hair is going to crawl out of your television set and murder your ass.
