Venom: The Mace is an American comic book limited series of the superhero fantasy genre. It was published by Marvel Comics and ran for three issues from May to July, 1994. The series was written by Carl Potts with artwork by Liam Sharp and inks by Bill Reinhold. It was colored by Tom Smith with lettering by Richard Starkings. The series was edited by Danny Fingeroth.

Issues

Venom was created by writer David Michelinie and artist Todd McFarlane, though his origins go back to concepts originally developed by writers Roger Stern, Tom DeFalco, Jim Shooter and artists Ron Frenz, Brett Breeding, Mike Zeck, Jack Abel and Mike Esposito. It first appeared as an alien costume in Amazing Spider-Man #252 in May, 1984, though it chronologically made an earlier origin appearance in Marvel Super Heroes Secret Wars #8 in December, 1984. It was first bonded to Eddie Brock as Venom in a cameo scene in Amazing Spider-Man #299, but made its first full appearance in Amazing Spider-Man #300. Eddie Brock made his first appearance as a cameo in Web of Spider-Man #18 in September, 1986. Venom has since gone on to become one of Spider-Man's top villains, and has spun off into his own line of comic book titles. Venom was adapted into a live-action feature film in 2018 starring Tom Hardy as Eddie Brock.
