"Sometimes Friend, Before It Ends..."[]

At a museum filled with Egyptian antiquities, two security guards exchange friendly barbs with one another while discussing facial hair. A crew of hooded assassins wearing Egyptian headdresses silently drop down from the ceiling and kill both men. They take off with a golden scepter.

Later, the assassins bring the scepter to their mistress, the God-Queen. The God-Queen is dining on the blood of a recent sacrifice, which restores youth and vitality to her person. As they hand the scepter over to her, it is noted that it once belonged to the "betrayer". The God-Queen states that she can still feel his soul shivering within.

Three months earlier, Liesel van Helsing is in New York City, fighting through scores of wraiths with her arm-blades and mini-rocket launchers. After dispatching the monsters, she is then called into a case involving the death of a punk rock singer named Reprehensible Judy. After consulting with local law enforcement, Liesel then goes to the office of police commissioner Julia Gengrich. Gengrich wants to officially deputize Liesel, but Van Helsing turns her nose up at the idea.

They suddenly receive word of a hold-up taking place at a fundraiser held at Matthew's Tower. Armed gunmen have stormed the ballroom, and are targeting key figures such as Sheldon Walsh and Senator Roger Matthews. One of the people in attendance as a "hostage" is the God-Queen. Liesel Van Helsing smashes through the windows and opens fire on the gunmen. The God-Queen takes delight in seeing Van Helsing... again.

Flashback to the year 1845. Liesel van Helsing led an expedition to the Pyramids of Egypt to investigate the disappearance of Lawrence Wessels, who was a friend of her father's. Supposedly, Wessels had led his own expedition into an allegedly cursed pyramid. Joining Liesel in this resumed search was Wessels' daughter, Gertrude, as well as her father's friend Kostas, and a woman named Valencia, who had prophetic visions. Entering the pyramid, they were attacked by a living mummy.
