"The Axe Man" is the title to the first story in issue #6 of the horror anthology illustrated magazine Vampire Tales published by Marvel Comics and Curtis Magazines. The story was written by Marv Wolfman & Steve Gerber illustrated by Bob Brown and Tom Palmer. The second story is called "Angie's Soul" and is written by Chris Claremont with artwork by Andres Balcells. The third feature is titled "Blood Death" and was crafted by writer Doug Moench and artist Alfredo Alcala. The final tale is an eleven-page story called "The Color of Crimson Gold" by Doug Moench and Vicente Alcazar. All stories were edited by Marv Wolfman. The cover art illustration is a painted piece by artist Boris Vallejo. This issue shipped with an August, 1974 cover date and carries a cover price of .75 cents per copy.
