Synopsis[]
A young boy is at the cemetery attending the funeral of his father. Hours after the sun has gone down, he spies two grave robbers. They collect various bodies, including that of the boys' father. The senior of the two, Henry Frankenstein, has his assistant Fritz load the bodies into a wagon and take them back to their castle laboratory.
Hiding within the inner recesses of the castle, he watches in horror as Henry Frankenstein stitches the assembled body parts together into a single composite being. The boy recognizes the hand of his father hanging limp off the edge of the operating table. Frankenstein and Fritz conclude their experiments, using their advanced scientific equipment to harness lightning from the sky, bringing the assembled entity to life. With a joyousness that borders on madness, Henry Frankenstein exclaims, "It's alive!"
The creature is taken to a dungeon where it is left alone. The boy, still as yet discovered by the others, creeps down into the dungeon and calls out to his "Papa". As the monster lumbers out into the moonlight, the boy realizes that this is not his father at all.
Realizing that Doctor Frankenstein butchered his father's body to assemble this creation, the boy steals into Henry's laboratory, prepared to slice his throat with a knife From the shadows, Fritz emerges. He clamps his hand around the boy's mouth and drags him into the darkness.
