The United Federation of Planets (UFP) is a coalition of various worlds featured in the Star Trek mythos. It serves as the primary backdrop of the protagonist characters and subgroups featured in the franchise's various multimedia projects and is present in practically all aspects of the related film, television, novel, video game and comic book mediums. The military arm of the UFP is the Federation Starfleet, headquartered in San Francisco, California and consists of Starfleet Command and Starfleet Academy.
