A Nightmare on Elm Street[]
Edward Underwood was a middle-aged man who lived in Springwood, Ohio in the 1950s. Very little is known about this man other than that he was an abusive alcholic. He had adopted a boy named Fred Krueger, who had been put up by his mother, Amanda Krueger.
When Freddy was a teenager, Underwood was shown to be fierce, and violent when it came to disciplining him. Whenever the urge struck him, he would whip Freddy with his belt as a form of punishment. Over time, Freddy became desensitized towards the violence, and some small part of him even took pleasure in it. During one of the whippings, Freddy grabbed the belt from Underwood and told him, "You wanna know the secret of pain? If you just stop feeling it, you can start using it." After which, he took up a razor blade and shoved it into Underwood's eye. (Freddy's Dead: The Final Nightmare)
