The members of the Hargreeves family were introduced in the first issue of the Umbrella Academy: Apocalypse Suite comic book limited series, published by Dark Horse Comics from September, 2007 to February, 2008. The Umbrella Academy was created for television by Steve Blackman and developed by Jeremy Slater.
