The Umbrella Academy is the name of a fictional super-hero team, their mansion base of operations, as well as the parent name for a franchise of comic book titles published by Dark Horse Comics as well as a Netflix television series.
History[]
The Umbrella Academy originally consisted of seven special individuals, all of whom had been born on the same day and was the product of spontaneous conception. There were forty-four such births that had been recorded on that fateful day, but only seven had the fortune (or misfortune) of being adopted by Sir Reginald Hargreeves. Hargreeves was less a father and more of a trainer as he knew that each of the seven children under his care had been born with fantastic abilities. He forged them into a superhero team dubbed "The Umbrella Academy".
