Uatu is a fictional comic book character featured in comic book titles published by Marvel Comics. Though he is often associated with books in the Fantastic Four family of titles, Uatu has made numerous appearances in various other titles and was also the host of the alternate reality series What If?. The character was created by writer Stan Lee and artist Jack Kirby and made his first appearance in Fantastic Four, Volume 1 #13 in April, 1963.
Overview[]
Uatu is an immortal omnipotent extraterrestrial who belongs to an alien race known only as the Watchers. All Watchers are governed by a strict code of non-interference when it comes to the development of alien worlds, but more than any other, Uatu is the one Watcher most likely to break this edict. He is charged with monitoring all events that transpire within the Sol system and has had frequent contact with the planet Earth, often times breaking the code of the Watchers to save the planet from a traumatic fate, such as interceding when the planet-devouring cosmic entity Galactus first came to Earth. Uatu has had made dealing with the Fantastic Four, but is otherwise unknown to the general populace of Earth. Uatu maintains a private citadel located on the blue area of Earth's moon.

- The character of Uatu was created by writer Stan Lee and artist Jack Kirby.
- As he's gotten older, Uatu's head has grown progressively bigger. There is no in-story explanation for this, but is merely an element of artistic license to make Uatu look more alien.
- Uatu had his own back-up serial called "Tales of the Watcher", which ran through issues #49-55 of Tales of Suspense.
