Travis Hoyt is a fictional costumed super-villain and a minor recurring antagonist featured in comic books published by Marvel Comics. He is associated with the Iron Man line of comic titles and first appeared in Iron Man #14 in June, 1969.
Biography[]
Travis Hoyt was a paraplegic writer who discovered a radioactive pool that could restore mobility to his legs. Unfortunately for him, it also left his face hideously scarred. Donning bandages and a costume, he began an anti-technology campaign of crime using the name Night Phantom. One of his attacks againt a power plant brought him into conflict with Iron Man.
Travis Hoyt fought up against Iron Man another time in New York City. Iron Man, who had been going through something of a crisis of conscience, subdued Hoyt with a choke hold and only let go of him after members of the New York City Police Department tried to pry him off. [1]

- The character of Travis Hoyt was created by writer Archie Goodwin and artist Johnny Craig.
- A second Night Phantom, which was actually a robot, appeared in Iron Man #44 and Iron Man #45.
- Night Phantom is not to be confused with Night Rider, who is a western-era hero. He is also not to be confused with Space Phantom, who is an alien foe of the Avengers.
- Another masked "villain" who had his body healed albeit at the cost of facial deformity is Wade Wilson, aka Deadpool.
- Other characters who wear bandage-style masks are Larry Trainor - the Negative Man, and the Unknown Soldier, both of whom are DC Comics characters.
