Trancers is an American independent feature film of the science fiction genre with elements of cyberpunk and hard-boiled crime noir. It was directed by Charles Band with a script written by Danny Bilson and Paul De Meo. It was produced by Empire Pictures and Charles Band Productions and opened to limited international release on November 7th, 1984. It was released direct-to-video in the United States on May 22nd, 1985. Trancers stars Tim Thomerson as Jack Deth - a grizzled police detective from the year 2247 who is gunning for a man named Martin Whistler - a psychokinetic who uses his mental powers to enslave the minds of others, turning them into killer agents known as Trancers. When Whistler sends his consciousness back in time to the year 1985, Jack Deth must do likewise, and takes possession of his 20th century ancestor, Philip.
