Toxic waste is any unwanted material in all forms that can cause harm by being inhaled, swallowed, or absorbed through the skin. Many of today's household products such as televisions, computers and phones contain toxic chemicals that can pollute the air and contaminate soil and water. Disposing of such waste is a major public health issue. In the real world, exposure to toxic waste can cause any number of health problems, including fatalities. In speculative fiction however, the affects are a bit more dramatic. They can cause gross deformities, or in some cases, grant someone super-powers! Yes... nobody actually "dies" in the conventional sense from exposure to toxic waste in movies, cartoons and comic books.
