Overview[]
Tom Underlay was the sheriff of Homestead, Florida in the mid 2000s. He was the husband of physician Mariel Underlay and the father of Kira Underlay from a previous marriage.
In 2005, Tom was traveling aboard a passenger airplane that went down in the Florida Everglades during Hurricane Eve. By all accounts, Tom appeared to be the one lone survivor of the crash, but in truth, he had actually died and had been replaced by an alien parasite that had replicated Tom's physicality, personality and memories. Tom continued to act as the sheriff of Homestead, and occasionally coordinated clean-up efforts with park ranger Russell Varon. Secretly however, Tom was laboring to preserve the biological integrity of other members of his host race.
