Tom Beckett was a minor character from the Quantum Leap TV series franchise and was played by actor David Newsom. He was introduced in the season three episode "The Leap Home (Part 1)" and was also featured in the second half of the episode, Quantum Leap: The Leap Home (Part 2)". Tom Beckett also made an appearance in the 18th and final Quantum Leap novel, "Mirror's Edge".
Biography[]
Tom Beckett is the son of John and Thelma Beckett and the oldest of three siblings which includes his younger brother Sam and sister Katie. Tom was an officer in the United States Navy during the late 1960s, holding the rank of Lieutenant. He was originally destined to die in Vietnam, but his time-traveling brother (from the future) "leaped" into the body of another soldier named Herbert Williams and saved Tom's life. [1]
Tom eventually returned home and after retiring from the military, entered the world of politics, eventually becoming a US congressman. [2]
