Titan is one of the moons of the planet Saturn. It has appeared in various forms of speculative fiction over the years, usually in material of the science fiction genre. The moon derives its name from the Titans of Greek mythology.
In the real world, Titan is a very far distance away, and as such, has not been colonized by humans in the modern era. By that rationale, it can be said to be uninhabitable. In speculative fiction however, Titan is often shown boasting an indigenous humanoid population.
Fictional races who are said to have originated from Titan are referred to as Titanians. In DC Comics, Titan has humanoid colonists who, by the 30th century, have developed telepathic abilities. Imra Ardeen is a telepath from the moon of Titan.
Titan also plays a prominent role in comics books set within the Marvel Universe. The Eternals of Titan - an offshoot of the Eternals known to reside on Earth, live on the moon. This includes characters such as A'Lars, Eros and Thanos.
In the Marvel Cinematic Universe, Titan played a key role in the ambitions and motivations of the Mad Titan known as Thanos. Seeking to cultivate prosperity in the galaxy by thinning the herd, so to speak, Thanos engaged in an epic battle against several heroes including Star-Lord, Iron Man, Spider-Man and Doctor Strange. Most of these heroes met their demise after Thanos obliterated half the galaxy upon acquiring the Infinity Gems.
