Tierra del Fuego is an archipelago off the southernmost tip of the South American mainland, across the Strait of Magellan. The archipelago consists of the main island, Isla Grande de Tierra del Fuego, with an area of 48,100 km2 (18,572 sq mi), and a group of many islands, including Cape Horn and Diego Ramírez Islands. Tierra del Fuego is divided between Chile and Argentina, with the latter controlling the eastern half of the main island and the former the western half plus the islands south of Beagle Channel.
History[]
When Karl Lykos was still a teenager, his father brought Karl, Herr Anderssen and his daughter, Tanya Anderssen on a tour of the mountains. Tanya went missing and the senior Lykos and Herr Anderssen spent four hours searching for her. Karl discovered a hidden tunnel and followed it down into a secret inexplicable realm out of time called the Savage Land. He found Tanya being attacked by Pteranodons and used a club to fight them off. Karl was severely injured in the process. Tanya and he were brought back to their parents and Doctor Anderssen administered care to Karl. It was during this incident that Karl developed the ability to drain the life energy of others. [1]
Years later, Karl Lykos continued to mutated and became a dinosaur man called Sauron. His mind had devolved and he grew twisted and warped. Sauron's actions brought him into conflict with the X-Men. After suffering defeat during one battle, Sauron retreated to his family's cabin in Tierra del Fuego. His injuries were severe, and he feared that he would die in the cabin. [2]
Points of Interest[]
- Cape Horn
- Cape Horn is the southernmost headland of the Tierra del Fuego archipelago of southern Chile, and is located on the small Hornos Island. Although not the most southerly point of South America, which are the Diego Ramírez Islands, Cape Horn marks the northern boundary of the Drake Passage and marks where the Atlantic and Pacific Oceans meet.
