The Thing is a video game based on the 1981 science fiction/horror film The Thing by director John Carpenter, which in turn is a remake of the 1951 film The Thing from Another World, which in turn is based on the novella Who Goes There? by author John W. Campbell, Jr., written in 1938. It is a third-person shooter and was developed by Computer Artworks. It was published by the Black Label Games label of Vivendi Universal Games. It was released in North America on the Microsoft Windows platform on August 20th, 2002. It was released in Europe on September 20th, 2002. It was released on Xbox in North America on September 3rd, 2002 and in Europe on September 20th, 2002. It was released for the PlayStation 2 in North America on August 20th, 2002 and in Europe on September 20th, 2002. The plot of the game serves as a sequel to the John Carpenter film. It follows the story of Captain Blake, a member of a U.S. Special Forces team sent to the Antarctic outpost featured in the film to determine what has happened to the research team.
