"Little Green Men" is the first episode of season two of The X-Files and is the twenty-fifth episode in the series overall. The episode was directed by David Nutter and first aired on the Fox Network on Friday, September 16th, 1994. In this episode, the X-Files division of the FBI has been shut down and Mulder and Scully are separated. Mulder is assigned to doing menial wire tapping duties while Scully returns to the FBI Academy as a medical instructor. Through the aid of one of Mulder's supporters however, Senator Richard Matheson, Mulder begins his own investigation into UFO sightings, which brings him to a SETI facility in Puerto Rico.
